What is Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis on its own will be unlikely to give any
relief to your symptoms. It’s merely a very relaxed and calm state of mind. All
hypnosis is ‘self’ hypnosis, your hypnotherapist acts as a guide helping you to
this truly wonderfully relaxed state of mind where you are able to focus totally
on a specific beneficial concept or idea. You may be surprised to discover that
hypnosis is a regular state for most people, it is something that happens
virtually every day to us. Have you ever been so engrossed in a book or in
watching a film, or perhaps driving along your usual route, getting to the end
but cannot remember driving there? Or just simply daydreaming off in your own
little world, these are all forms of hypnosis.
Hypnotherapy is totally different from other forms of
therapy; the most important difference is that it is able to work directly on
your subconscious mind, often with rapid results without the need for any
physical intervention or drugs.
The therapy part which is done whilst you are in a hypnotic state can be
Suggestion Therapy or Hypnoanalysis. Before we start rest assured that we will
discuss the various therapies and you can be comfortable that whichever therapy
we use will be the right one for you.
Suggestion Therapy is used to help overcome issues like exam or
driving test nerves, stopping smoking, unwanted habits, confidence issues,
often taking only one to four sessions
Hypnoanalysis is used to go to the roots of the problem allowing you
to return to past memories and experiences and with your therapist’s guidance
understand and remove the underlying cause of the symptom. It is used to help
with things like irrational fears, phobias, emotional problems, stress etc
How does it work? Hypnotherapy brings
beneficial, therapeutic change by using the altered state that hypnosis creates;
it allows access to your subconscious mind, where all your habits and responses
that have been learned through experience, good and bad are stored. When the
conscious part of your mind is totally relaxed, the subconscious becomes much
more accessible, and so it is possible to address issues like fears, phobias,
anxieties and negative habits at their cause. It is not an alternative to
conventional medicine, but it does complement it. If you are experiencing
physical symptoms my advice will always be that you should consult your doctor
first. Hypnotherapy will not cause any ill effects, but ignoring a physical
illness might. Some conditions may require will power and motivation.
EFT is a meridian therapy which is used to
stimulate the meridian channels releasing blockages related to negative emotions
and beliefs. It’s a non intrusive therapy sometimes referred to as “acupuncture
without needles”, used to treat fears, phobias, physical pain, weight problems
and loosing emotional baggage. It is painless, easy and fun to learn often with
very rapid results usually permanent.
NLP is based on an understanding of how our life
experiences have been coded and interpreted, uncovering life patterns that work
well and life patterns that don’t. So knowing how your brain functions you are
able to change it so that it is working for you, using various techniques to
create lasting change. Strengthening what works and change what doesn’t.
